Sessions ‘A’ extended their lead at the top of division one in the NEDL York and District Table Tennis League with an 8-2 success over Holgate ‘B’.

Richard Moss was unbeaten but Mick Kenyon picked up two wins, including the scalp of Mick Wilcockson. Moss and Wilcockson had earlier shone in a 9-1 thrashing of Railway ‘A’.

Martin Lowe and Joel Wright saw Coneysthorpe ‘A’ to a 7-3 win over Unviersity ‘A’ and they retain second spot. The students previously fought out a draw with Holgate ‘B’, with Jan Natolski unbeaten.

Two-man Bootham ‘A’ were too much for Coneysthorpe ‘B’. Paul Eastwood was undefeated in a 6-4 victory.

The tussle to escape the drop continues in division two, and BT ‘A’ lost to a two-man Holgate ‘C’ outfit, but still collected four valuable points.

There was a thrilling encounter between Simon Prins, of Holgate ‘E’, and Mike Surtees, of Shepherds ‘B’, with Prins coming from two games down to win a quality encounter to help his side to an 8-2 win.

Alan Balmforth collected three singles wins there and was also undefeated as Holgate ‘E’ then went down 6-4 to Sessions ‘B’.

The battle for the division three title is also very keen and it could not be much closer.

Bootham ‘C’ had a tough encounter against Bootham ‘D’, coming through 7-3 thanks to Rich Harrison.

Dave Robinson made his debut for NEDL/Bootham after a spell out of the game, and he won three singles, as did Alan Wren, as their side thumped Holgate ‘F’ 9-1.

BT ‘B’ edged out University ‘B’ 6-4.

Shepherds ‘D’ are top of division four after an 8-2 win over Norwich Union ‘B’.

Ray Holroyd proved a tough nut to crack as he picked up three singles wins as his Hartrigg Oaks side went down at Holgate ‘G’.
