Mr Lawson’s memories are not so good (Wartime memories, Letters, March 14).
Dukes Fish and Chip Restaurant certainly did open on Sundays.
It was the only place you could get fish and chips on Sundays, but only the restaurant was open so you had to sit down and pay 1/6 for fish, chips, peas, tea and bread and butter.
