A RIVER search for missing Lisette Dugmore has ended without success.

Divers from West Yorkshire Police scoured a six-mile stretch of the River Ouse yesterday between Clifton Bridge and Naburn in the hope of finding some trace of Lisette, of Peter Hill Drive, in Clifton, York. She was reported missing by her father on July 7 last year.

Sgt Rob Cater who led the search said: “It’s really hard when you are looking for somebody who has been missing for so long to guess where to look, that’s why we have widened the search parameters.

“We have been searching the banks using canoes to get in close among the trees and looking at anything out of the ordinary.”

The search took most of the day to carry out, but ended without Lisette being found.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said officers will now carry out a detailed review of the evidence and hopefully, members of the public will come forward with more information.

Lisette’s family have been prepared for the worst. Detective Inspector Adrian Gathercole, the senior investigating officer, said: “We are anxious to find Lisette, but sadly we fear that the case will not have the positive outcome we initially hoped for.

“We have prepared Lisette’s family for the worst and hope that our search may at least provide some closure on what has been a deeply distressing time for them.”

Since Lisette was reported missing there have been numerous potential sightings of the 36-year-old, but police said that in each case it had been mistaken identity or that the sighting has been inconclusive.

The former kennels assistant with the RSPCA is known to have been in Bootham, York, at 6.30pm on Sunday July 6.

She fell over and was seen by an ambulance crew but did not need hospital treatment. She was last seen on CCTV walking along Bootham away from the city centre with a man.

That man has since been traced and told police officers where they went.

As a result investigating officers say they fear Lisette may have gone into the Ouse late that evening.

Police would still like to hear from anyone who may have any information concerning Lisette’s disappearance, particularly on the evening of July 6, and have asked them to phone 0845 6060247.
