New Earswick’s IBC ladies missed out on the North Eastern League by shots difference after boasting the same number of points as Selby.
Fielding a near first team, Selby easily beat third-placed York 103-58 to collect the maximum ten points.
At home, Cynthia Wright’s side piled the pressure on Ella Armitt’s team after the 11th end to win 23-9. Cynthia Birkinshaw’s four also had a comfortable time in a 26-15 victory.
In York, Jane Simpson’s rink led from start to finish before wrapping up a 28-13 win, while the closest York came to a victory was from the team led by Pat Bracken. They got within one shot of Sue Williamson’s side before falling to a 26-21 loss.
New Earswick needed to win all four rinks against Scarborough but they could only manage three.
There were excellent away wins for Kath Sykes’s team – 37-13 after a runaway start and Pat Walker’s side, who came from 9-4 down to triumph 20-14.
At home, Maureen Woods’ rink countered from 16-9 down with eight ends to play to prevail 23-19. Diane Hardy’s team led 15-11 with eight to play but crumbled to a 24-15 defeat.
