ALL-CONQUERING Woodthorpe Wanderers FC Under-14s are chasing glory on four fronts.
The club booked their place in the semi-finals of the County Cup – to add to two semi-final places already in the bag – after a 3-1 victory over Nunthorpe.
The first half was very tight, with the Woodthorpe defence keeping their opponents at bay.
The deadlock was broken with a sharply taken goal by Huss Akdag, although Wanderers were pegged back by an own goal from a corner. Nunthorpe were then denied by a superb one-handed save from ’keeper James Hall just before half-time.
Woodthorpe took control in the second half and Akdag restored his side’s advantage with a shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
A goalmouth scramble led to a third goal from Jack Buckett and Woodthorpe were unfortunate not to add to their tally.
• Woodthorpe Wanderers are looking for a new manager to look after their Under-6s side.
Anyone interested in the role should phone Mark Allinson on 07500 929743 or Darren Nunn on 07545 018846 for more details.
