HOLMFIRTH runner Matthew Pearson claimed first place in the Knavesmire Harriers Brass Monkey Half-marathon.
Pearson’s winning time in the 26th annual running of the popular York event was one hour six minutes 36 seconds, 20 seconds outside the course record.
Pearson took the lead from the two mile marker to beat second-placed Darran Bilton, of Pickering, who came home in 68-36.
Holmfirth’s Dave Turnball was third in 70-16, while North York Moors’ James Bulman was fourth in 71-25.
Telford’s Kim Forbes won the women’s race in 76-22, beating Bingley’s Sarah Jarvis (77-00).
