SELBY RUFC’S young Swans spread their wings with a 15-0 victory over Old Brodleians.

The Under-15s outfit had to work hard against the visitors and it was only stern Selby defence that kept the scoreboard quiet for the first 20 minutes.

A rare foray into the Brods’ 22 broke the spell with Josh Cruise charging down a clearance which Jamie Skelton gleefully scooped up and darted over for the first score of the New Year. Selby continued to improve into the second half with Scott Adamson prominent in only his second outing after returning from injury.

Matthew Fisher swept over for a try, the result of quick ball and confident hands to further extend the score.

Adam Roberts also crossed, but was judged to have been taken into touch by the covering tackle.

Adam Brown then capped a fine display using Fisher as a decoy and stepping through the resulting gap to conclude the scoring.
