Jan Natolski, of University ‘A’, produced an excellent performance to inflict a first defeat of the NEDL York and District Table Tennis League season on Richard Moss, of Sessions ‘A’.

Unbeaten Natolski beat Moss 11-2 in the final game and added another two wins, but his exploits went unrewarded as the basement side were beaten 6-4 by the division one leaders.

The students lost by the same score to Coneysthorpe ‘B’, though Natolski, the only undefeated player in the top flight, was again supreme.

Moss, meanwhile, claimed the prized scalp of Coneysthorpe ‘A’ star Martin Lowe as Sessions ‘A’ came through 6-4. That was Lowe’s first defeat of the campaign, Moss beating him 11-9 in the final game.

It was a bad week for reigning champions Bootham ‘A’.

Despite new signing Fergus Ellis winning two singles, Bootham went down 6-4 to Coneysthorpe ‘A’, for whom Martin Lowe was unbeaten.

A maximum haul from Paul Robertson saw Railway Institute ‘A’ retain second place as they overcame Holgate ‘B’ 6-4.

John Farmery was unbeaten as Holgate ‘A’ beat Railway Institute ‘B’ 6-4.

Railway youngster Luke Blackburn had a noteworthy success over Graham Hatfield, winning 12-10 in the final game.

In division two, two-man Holgate ‘C’, who are third, pulled off a remarkable win over Holgate ‘D’, 6-4.

Rob Farmery and Peter Harpham won all their singles for the ‘C’ team.

Bottom club Shepherds ‘B’ put up a brave fight but went down 6-4 to Sessions ‘B’, for whom Nigel Thorn was unbeaten.

Bootham ‘B’s Jimmy Mills was 7-3 down in the final game to inspired division three player Steve Potter, of Holgate ‘E’, before claiming the last eight points to remain unbeaten on the night.

Gareth Bryning was also unbeaten as Bootham thumped Holgate 8-2.

Sessions ‘C’ are having a nightmare campaign in division three.

They could muster only two players as they were whitewashed by Bootham ‘D’.

BT ‘B’ went down to their first defeat of the season as University ‘B’ came through 6-4, aided by an unbeaten display from David Butler.

In division four, Railway Institute ‘E’ beat previously unbeaten Holgate ‘G’ 7-3.

Chris Megone was the star of the show for Railway.
