MY wife and I went to the Castle Howard firework display and I must say that the fireworks were spectacular and it was worth going just to see them (“Lack of food forethought”, The Press, November 4).

However, we were disappointed with the queues for the food. There was only one burger and hot dog stall and the queue was always about 100 metres or more long as was the queue for the baked potatoes. We had to queue for ages, and at £3.50 for a hot dog they weren’t cheap.

I hope next year they have a lot more good stalls, so people going there for a good night don’t spend it queuing up. I wanted a cup of tea, but couldn’t face it again.

• I never was that good at maths, but 5,000 paying customers at £10 each makes £50,000; £1,300 spent on firework makes... a CH rip-off?
