I Have read The Press with great interest regarding the issue of begging in York city centre.
I believe the way of showing the public that something is being done is to have zero tolerance on begging, with offenders being given on-the-spot fines and having all their begging money confiscated.
The public should also be warned not to give beggars any money. We would see a great reduction of this problem in our city.
