A MAN was taken to hospital after a rush hour four-car crash on the A19 south of York.
The accident happened shortly before 5pm yesterday, and involved four cars on the A19 at Crockey Hill. No one was seriously injured in the incident and one man was taken to York Hospital with minor injuries.
Due to the time of the crash lengthy queues of traffic formed along the A19 through Fulford with frustrated drivers facing a 40-minute wait as they battled their way out of York onto the A64 and towards Selby.
The crash happened alongside the Minster Practice and the Hot Tub Showroom, near the D G Dale & Son Ltd garage. Police and ambulance attended the scene and the road was clear by 6.20pm.
Earlier, a female motorist in her twenties was taken to York Hospital after crashing into one of York's historic walled entrances.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesman said the driver's injuries were not believed to be serious.
The woman's car hit one of the pillars under Walmgate Bar at 11.15am, causing minor damage to the stonework.
Traffic was held up for more than half an hour while the vehicle was recovered from the archway.
