WHAT a dearth of good comedy shows we now have on TV. Apart from My Family and the now defunct Catherine Tate Show and The Office, we seldom have anything to cheer us up.

If such programmes as Mr & Mrs, Family Fortunes and Beat The Clock can be revived, why can we not have updated versions of such classics as The Thin Blue Line, Keeping Up Appearances, 'Allo 'Allo!, Hi-de-Hi and Are You Being Served? - to quote just a few?

Surely the programmers have a duty to give us good entertainment, especially as so many peak-time programmes are unsuitable for family viewing.
