This is a list of services for Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday in the York area.

Remembrance Day (Armistice Day) services will take place on Thursday, November 11 and Remembrance Sunday falls on November 14.

A two-minute silence is observed on both these days at 11am - thanking those before us who gave us the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

These services honour the lives of those who died or served in World War I, World War II and all following conflicts.

There are a small number of services taking place in York.

Meanwhile other acts of remembrance are taking place - including a poppy projected onto one of the giant towers at Drax Power Station.

The projection onto one of the 114m-tall towers should be visible from miles around to commemorate those involved in the two world wars and other conflicts.
