A VAN fire on the A64 eastbound on the outskirts of York led to the closure of one lane and delays for motorists earlier today.

It happened after the Hopgrove Roundabout and was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 11.20pm.

One lane was closed but reopened at around 1.45pm. There were traffic jams heading towards Scarborough.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the vehicle was "completely burnt out" and "no injuries are reported to us."
