A YORK man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident at a block of flats in the city.
Gregory Marcus Hart, 52, appeared before York and Selby Magistrates' Court this morning, charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent and false imprisonment.
North Yorkshire Police said a 47-year-old man was left with head and pelvic injuries following the incident at a block of flats in Fourth Avenue, Tang Hall, at about 6.40pm on Wednesday, May 1.
Hart, of Fourth Avenue, Tang Hall, was arrested at the scene and has been in custody since Wednesday.
He did not appear in person before York magistrates and remained in a cell below the courtroom.
His solicitor Craig Robertson said he was too ill to leave his cell.
Because Hart's case can only be tried by a judge and jury, he was sent to Leeds Crown Court where he will appear on May 24.
Magistrates remanded him in custody, and Mr Robertson did not make a bail application on Hart's behalf.
A police spokeswoman urged anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to the force to contact them by phoning 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 quoting incident number 12190078740.
