ADAM Jones scored five tries as York College's rugby league team opened their fixtures in blistering style with an 88-6 demolition of their counterparts from Doncaster College.
The Tadcaster Road-based college, which now boasts a pioneering rugby league development course, play in the East Yorkshire (College) League division one.
They are coached by Paul Higgins who bossed the York City Knights academy team for the past two seasons and has a long track record in rugby league development.
He was delighted with their opening display, in which they set the pattern for the game with 32 points in the first 25 minutes through tries from Jones (3), Mark Wilson (2) and Tom Stancliffe, with conversions from Wilson (2) and Luke Watling (2).
Playing good open rugby, they continued that scoring trend with further tries from Jones, Watling and Mark Appleton, all converted Watling for a 50-6 half-time lead.
Doncaster battled bravely but York did not ease up and further tries came from Danny Carlos (2), Ross White, Chris Fox, Jones and Stancliffe, all goaled by Wilson.
York face home away games against college teams from Doncaster, Hull, Hull A', Wilberforce (Hull), and Pontefract as they seek a place in the premier division.
