As Children and Young People's Champion, I would like to congratulate the 38 primary schools that took part in the Primary Schools Conference I attended on October 5.
The conference was the biggest one yet and it was great to see so many pupils taking part. The conference gave the opportunity to break off into workshops, in which all those attending learned a great deal, not least from each other.
Particular thanks should go to Hemplands Primary School Council, which organised this year's event. I am sure that the commitment and enthusiasm shown by the schools will ensure this event goes from strength to strength.
Members of the various school councils pledged to help in the election process of the next Children and Young People's Champion. I am particularly pleased that young people will be able to have an input into devising the process of that election.
