Show of the Week
Luca Rutherford's Political Party, York Theatre Royal Studio, September 20
LUCA Rutherford's Political Party is a show about "how we do politics instead of talking about it".
Co-commissioned by the Albany, Camden People’s Theatre, Northern Stage and Unity Theatre, this ARC Stockton production asks if you have ever felt confused or overwhelmed by politics? Or have you ever thought that the only way to make a difference is to change everything? And have you ever wondered what stops you from taking action?
Step forward Luca Rutherford, who had reached a point where thinking about politics made her want to lie down on the pavement and never rise again. Instead of doing this, however, she is throwing a party. A political party. "There will be music, dancing and eggs," she says. "No know-it-alls. No big words. You are invited!"
Directed by Alex Swift and designed by Bethany Wells, this 7.45pm show will turn the Studio into a political hotbed for one night only. Tickets cost £12.50 on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk.
