YORK commuters are being urged to take the bus to work as part of a month of activities promoting sustainable travel.
City of York Council is inviting businesses to sign up for advice and competitions in which staff photograph themselves cycling. Employees are also invited to record every bus journey they make to be in with a chance of being named Bus Challenge Champions and win a commemorative plaque.
Cllr Peter Dew, executive member for transport and planning, said: “Sustainable September presents an opportunity to rethink the way you commute to and from work, and travel around the city. I’d encourage as many businesses and individuals as possible to get involved.”
