THE proportion of people quitting London to move to northern England or the Midlands has more than tripled in the past decade, according to a report.
In the first six months of 2018, a fifth of London leavers moved to the North or Midlands, up from 6% in the first half of 2008, according to research by Hamptons International.
And the average buyer moving out of the capital spent £424,610 on their new home - with purchase prices ranging from £575,010 for those buying in the South East to £132,370 for those moving to the North East, the research found.
The report found that those moving to Yorkshire and the Humber spent an average of £153,740 on their new home, with about 2% of people who left London in the first half of 2018 heading to the region.
