TWO villages in the East Riding are to get a five-day-a-week bus service.
The service between Bempton, Buckton and Bridlington will increase from three days to five when a new operator takes over next month.
Service 504 will be run by Acklams Coaches from Monday, September 3, but will still be funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC).
The route will remain the same and will run between Mondays and Fridays.
The council took over the running of the service in may as a temporary measure after East Yorkshire Motor Services made the decision to cancel it.
Cllr John Barrett said: “I’m pleased our transport officers have been able to secure a long-term operator.
“Despite the financial constraints the council is working under, we have continued to fund this service for the benefit of local residents.”
Buses will leave Bempton at 9.30am, 12.30pm and 4pm, and return from Bridlington at noon and 3.30pm
Service 131, between Bridlington and Carnaby industrial estate, will continue with the same timetable and route.
