YORK Stand Up To Racism will hold a counter protest in the city at the weekend.
UKIP's Mike Hookem is expected to be among the speakers at a rally to protest against prosecution of Northern Ireland veterans.
Stand Up to Racism will meet in the city centre on Saturday, August 25, for a counter protest.
A spokeswoman said the event, in Parliament Street, would be “a peaceful counter protest”, and would take place from 11am.
But Robert Gray, organiser of the March for Justice for Northern Ireland Veterans rally, said: "We have one aim. We are against the prosecution of veterans who served in Northern Ireland.
"We are not right wing or an extreme right wing group."
