A £5 MILLION project to create a new sports village on the edge of Thirsk has won a massive boost.
Hambleton District Council's Sowerby Sports Village scheme, which will include sports pitches and a BMX track, has been awarded £643,118 from the European Regional Development Fund.
With developer contributions from the Sowerby Gateway scheme for retail, leisure, employment land, care provision and new homes, work can now begin to bring the land off Gravel Hole Lane into use for informal recreation.
