NEW research has revealed the best cities to visit on a budget in the UK - and York was named the best.
The research, conducted by Wonga, analysed the 10 most popular places for a short break in the UK and ranked them against the number of free activities in that the city, such as the number of landmarks, museums and parks. This number was then compared to the city’s population to create a top 10, with York taking the top spot. Brighton and Hove came in second.
