YORK Central MP Rachael Maskell has slated the latest air pollution data for the city.
The Friends of the Earth revealed recently that the city has 15 monitoring stations where the limits for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are still breaching guidelines set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The station taxi rank returned the highest levels, at 58.6 micrograms (ug) per cubic metre (m3), well above the limit set for local authorities of 40ug.
Ms Maskell said the report was 'damning,' adding: "We need urgent action now, not the promise of some clean air zone that may or may not happen in the future."
