YORK Civic Trust is backing plans for a dramatic overhaul of the entrance to York railway station.
Chief executive officer David Fraser said it strongly supported the principles behind the proposal and recognised it would be a 'massive improvement for those who visit or live and work in York.'
But the trust says it wants more joined-up thinking to ensure the scheme fits in with other current plans, including York Central and internal station redevelopment.
The Press revealed in June that the plans included reconfiguring entrances and exits to the station, reorganising the taxi rank and car parking and pedestrianising Tea Room Square.
