YORK'S long heatwave is coming to a close - at least for the time being - with a poor weekend looming for anyone planning to camp or hold a barbecue.
Forecasters say today will be cooler and fresher, despite sunny spells, with temperatures down to 22C.

They will fall again to 20C tomorrow and 19C on Friday, albeit with some sunshine, but the weekend is set to be increasingly windy and rainy as an Atlantic depression sweeps over northern Britain.
However, the weather should become drier next week as high pressure returns, and the Met Office has said September and October could be warmer and drier than usual.
