A NORTH Yorkshire scout group has received a major cash boost towards its new hut.
The 1st Easingwold Scout Group was awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire’s Community Champions scheme, to put towards a replacement hut after their World War Two timber building was deemed unsound.
Sue Scotter, chair of the scout group, said: "We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for their valuable support of the Easingwold Outdoor Centre Redevelopment Project.
"It is not just our group that benefits from the hut but many more community groups and organisations such as playgroups, forest schools and guides. The demolish and rebuild will cost in the region of £150,000 and we have already raised over £100,000. Persimmon Homes’ donation is a huge boost in helping us to each our goal."
Kevin Thubron, from Persimmon, said: "This is a perfectly deserving community project that we a delighted to support."
