STUDENTS in York will be descending on a local school next week to showcase their science projects.
All Saints RC School will host the first ever York Schools Science Fair on Tuesday.
All the secondary schools in York have been invited to attend to show off the projects that they are working on, together with other schools in the All Saints Teaching School Alliance, including Ampleforth College, in North Yorkshire.
At the event, students aged 11 to 15 will be presenting the work that they have been doing in various investigations, from solving some of the worlds pollution problems, to experimenting with new technology.
As part of this evening, the school will also be presented with the ‘Excellence in STEM’ award from the National Railway Museum. It is the first school in North Yorkshire to receive such an award.
Dr Ruth Burke, head of Key Stage 3 science at All Saints, said: “We are lucky that our staff feel able to take students on various trips throughout the year, and also organise extra-curricular clubs to encourage and inspire the future generation of STEM employees. They dedicate a lot of their free time to these events and we are grateful for the opportunity that this award gives us to publicly recognise all the hard work that they put in.”
