A YORK Philatelic Society member is celebrating its 70th anniversary by putting together an exhibition of stamps from around the world which were issued in the year it was founded - 1948 - and stamps from later years which commemorated events of that year.
Publicity secretary Richard Billinge said: "So far, I have assembled 50 A4 sheets covering 40 countries – a total of 453 stamps."
He said the stamps would go on display at the society's anniversary buffet at The Priory Street Centre in Priory Street on June 26 -open to members and their guests -and could also be shown elsewhere later in the year.
