A COMMUNITY choir hit all the right notes to raise cash for a cancer charity.
Stamford Bridge Community Choir held an 'It's Almost Summer' concert on May 11 at St John's Church in Stamford Bridge.
The vicar, Reverend Fran Wakefield, who has sung with the choir whenever she can, performed with the group during the concert.
Gill Cain, a member of the choir, said: "In the knowledge that Reverend Fran is leaving our parish it was so important to us that she could take part in this wonderful community evening so we brought our summer concert forward.
She added: "It's safe to say the church was packed, and our lovely choir director, Rachel Whittaker, led the choir through a wide range of fun, joyful, emotional and more traditional pieces."
The concert, together with donations from the Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association and Wilberfoss WI, raised £1,000, which will be donated to York Against Cancer.
Stamford Bridge Community Choir was part of the Classically Yours project, a partnership between Orchestras Live and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, which won the RPS (Royal Philharmonic Society) Music Award at a ceremony on May 9.
