A POLICE officer who allegedly racially abused a bouncer when he was refused entry to a nightclub is to face a misconduct hearing.

PC Mark Baird of Humberside Police faces claims that his actions amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour.

It is alleged that on November 8 2017, while off duty, PC Baird tried to get into Tofts Bar and Grill on Newland Avenue in Hull.

But he was allegedly refused entry because he was intoxicated and became "verbally abusive and aggressive" to door staff.

He reportedly used racist language towards a bouncer before stating that he was a police officer.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "The allegation is that conduct amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct contrary to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012."

The misconduct hearing will take place on May 30 and 31 at the Magistrates Court Building in Goole.
