A KAYAK and an inflatable boat have been stolen from a sea scout club in Clifton.

Leaders at the 1st Clifton (York) Sea Scouts discovered the garage where they keep boats and equipment, off Green Lane, had been broken into in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Scout leader Peter Ingham said the break in happened at about 12.45am according to CCTV covering the site.

He said members of the group arrived the next morning to find the garage door, which had been bolted, was pulled off its hinges and an orange Pyranha Inazone kayak, worth about £400, and a grey Quicksilver inflatable boat, worth up to £1,500, had been taken.

Paul said: "It's very frustrating, just the fact that somebody would steal from kids, because that's what they are doing. We will still be able to go out but it restricts what we can do."

The club, which has members between the ages of 10 and 18, is appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating.
