PLANS have been drawn up to create 25 new homes in two offices in York.

Savills' office at 48 Bootham could be converted into 14 apartments with a new two bedroom cottage built behind, while126 Acomb Road could be converted into nine apartments with another new two bedroom house built behind.

Planning documents show that Savills' office - which was built in the 1950s after the site was damaged in the Second World War - already has planning approval to be converted into residential use. The fresh application would see the three storey building converted into five one bedroom and nine two bedroom flats, with a two bedroom cottage at the back and seven parking spaces.

On Acomb Road, the building is currently home to NHS mental health services but has "generally suffered from low maintenance", according to a design and access statement. The new plans would see the late Victorian era townhouse converted into six one bedroom flats and three studio flats, something developers say is in keeping with the other HMO properties further along the road.
