REPLACING a school in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster in record time has won Portakabin a special award.

Kensington Aldridge Academy in London is the fastest school ever built, according to the president of the London District Surveyor’s Association, (LDSA) James King.

It earned Portakabin the LDSA President’s Award at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) London Building Excellence Awards.

A spokesman for the company said it was an unprecedented project., taking 12 weeks from start to finish.

Mr King said: “This award acknowledges the very essence of professionalism within the construction industry, showing how by working collaboratively with LABC, design and construction teams can deliver projects to very tight timeframes in difficult circumstances.”

The award was made to all members of the project team.
