POLICE said the number of calls they have received related to mental health issues has jumped 40 per cent in the past two years, with more than 10,000 incidents in the past year.
Humberside Police is encouraging people to open up about mental health issues as part of an awareness campaign.
The force is supporting Mental Health Awareness Week to help members of the public and improve staff wellbeing. During the past 12 months, officers have completed training on a range of issues including autism, hate crime and how to help vulnerable people.
A spokesman said the force is committed to supporting people with mental health problems.
