ENJOY the races from a different point of view with views across the Knavesmire at Goddards House.
Visitors to the National Trust property on Tadcaster Road can experience the atmosphere and sights of a race day without the hustle and bustle of the racecourse.
Children are invited to hop on hobby horses and gallop around the gardens, while adults can keep an eye on the competition using binoculars.
The house is an Arts and Crafts-style home commissioned by Noel Terry, who wanted to create a house close to the chocolate works for his family. The property was completed in 1927.
Rebecca Roberts, visitor experience officer, said: “Goddards is right on the edge of York racecourse and we enjoy the sights and sounds of the races from the house and gardens, so it’s brilliant that you can come and find out more about Terry’s connection to the races on York race days.”
