AN INVESTIGATION into a masked gang who terrorised a York woman and her young child has been closed without any arrests being made.

Three men in masks forced their way into a house in Bramham Road in the Chapelfields area of York, just after midday on January 16 this year.

Speaking at the time, a spokeswoman said the "made various demands of the victim before making their escape".

The woman was distressed and suffered injuries to her leg in the home invasion, but nothing had been stolen from the property and the three-year-old child was unharmed in the ordeal.

This week, it has emerged detectives have closed the case without any arrests being made.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police told The Press: "The investigation into this incident has been closed, pending any further information coming to light.

"The victim has been kept updated, and offered safeguarding advice and support from appropriate agencies."

The announcement comes within days of police confirming two other major police cases - which saw numerous people identified and arrested - closed without any further action to be taken.

As reported this week, North Yorkshire Police appealed to the public for help after a woman was found bleeding George Street, York - though the appeal was only made four weeks after the incident.

The woman had suffered "serious puncture wounds to her abdomen", when she was left near Lead Mill Lane at about 4.30am on Saturday, March 3.

A CCTV image of four men - who were not believed to be suspects - was released. They were identified, and helped officers with their inquiries.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers were unable to establish that any offence had occurred and the investigation has now been concluded."

In another incident, six men were arrested after a man suffered serious injuries in an attack which involved a weapon at an address in Ousegate, Selby, in the early hours of Saturday, March 3.

Police said the weapon used in the "violent incident" was not a firearm, and announced this week the investigation had closed, with all six men released with no further action to be taken.

A spokeswoman said: "The man who was injured in the incident has been updated by officers."
