SCARECROW heroes were on display throughout Dunnington over the weekend as part of the community’s annual May celebrations.
Residents were invited to create versions of their heroes, with characters including David Bowie’s alter ego Ziggy Stardust as well as superheroes Batman and Superman.
Six-year-old Will Robinson and his family made two scarecrow mountaineers which were climbing up the outside of their home, complete with ropes, waterproof jackets and helmets.
The event included a scarecrow trail for visitors to follow, with refreshments on sale at the Tower Room in St Nicholas’ Church.
People were invited to create their own scarecrows by April 27 ahead of the festival, which took place from May 5 to 7.
Visitors were invited to vote for their favourite scarecrow at the event.
All proceeds from the event were shared between St Nicholas’ Church Dunnington and the Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies and Rainbows groups in the village.
