AN ALL-FEMALE brass band whose debut was postponed because of bad weather will be performing their rescheduled concert tomorrow (April 28) in York.
The women players, who are called Femmes Fortissimo, were originally due to play for York International Women’s Week, but bad weather prevented it.
Organiser Kate Lock said: “We were determined we still wanted to do it, so we set this new date and we are really looking forward to doing it on Saturday.”
The players, who come from different brass bands across York as well as from North and East Yorkshire, are conducted by Sue Sykes, music director of York Concert Band.
The concert celebrates York International Women’s Week theme 'Making Women’s Voices Heard' and marks the centenary of the first women to get the vote in the UK.
Tickets for the concert cost £10 and £8 for concessions on the door.
It will take place in Southlands Methodist Church, Bishopthorpe Road, York, and starts at 7.30pm.
