RESIDENTS have been warned after reports of cold-calling tarmac gangs in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire County Council Trading Standards and Highways services said gangs have offered to fill pot holes in the Easingwold area, claiming to be from the County Council and having material left over for private drives and roads.
These claims are false, and in previous incidents these gangs have demanded more money than the price they quote up front.
Anyone who has encountered these gangs should phone trading standards on 03454 040506 and request contact from the Investigations and Safeguarding Team.
County Councillor Andrew Lee, Executive Member for Trading Standards said: "We will do all we can to protect residents from those who offend in this area.
"Whilst a large amount of work is being undertaken by the Council currently to improve the road network, residents should be aware that contractors working on behalf of the Council would never approach individuals or businesses trying with the aim of selling their services."
