A POLICE project to tackle motorbike theft and related crimes is to be rolled out across the force.

Humberside Police's Operation Yellowfin was a 12-month pilot scheme and ended with 650 bikers turning out for a 'ride out' to highlight the work last week.

During final week of the pilot, police arrested three people, and seized seven bikes, with warnings issued to others about their biking behaviour.

Chief Inspector Paul Butler said: "I’d like to thank the motorcycle community for supporting what has been a successful week that has allowed us to build bridges with them and gain the confidence of the communities which we serve. We listened, we acted, and we got results.

"The good news is that Yellowfin is here to stay and we’ll be rolling it out across the whole Force area in the coming months. We’re continuing to build on the great results we’ve already achieved since the operation was launched a year ago and after our week of activity."

Anyone reporting motorbike crime to Humberside Police on 101 should quote Yellowfin.
