A SELBY woman has been named new regional manager for a sight loss charity.
Joanne Reader has joined The Macular Society as regional manager for Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire, after leaving Selby District Vision, where she was a support worker, then an outreach officer. She has also worked as a hairdresser, and held positions with Cadbury and Selby District Alcohol Service before moving into the sight loss sector.
Joanne, 47, is a mother of three, and will launch new support groups and help existing groups attract new members and volunteers, as well as work with local authorities and partner agencies.
She said: "I’ve worked with the Macular Society many times in my previous role, so I know the charity well and am really pleased to be joining. I’ve been heavily involved in organising many groups and events for visually impaired people throughout my career so I’m looking forward to bringing those skills to my new role."
