A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash in an East Yorkshire village.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service said the two-vehicle collision happened in Common Road, Melbourne, near Pocklington, at just after 7am today.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutters, small hand tools and blocks to rescue a trapped woman, who was taken by air ambulance to hospital, with a further two casualties taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Humberside Police said the collision occurred at a junction on the road between Melbourne and Allerthorpe and involved a grey Volkswagen Golf and a black Audi A4.
"A lady, who was driving the Volkswagen, was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries," it said. "Two men suffered what are thought to be minor injuries in the incident.
"If you witnessed the collision, or saw the cars prior to the incident, please call 101 quoting log 87 of 23/03/18."
