A STUDENT at Sherburn High School, 15-year-old Shannon Bell, has been chosen as this year's Sherburn Gala Queen.
Shannon, who lives in Saxton, will lead the gala procession in an open top car through the village on gala day, May 19.
She will have four attendants, chosen from the two primary schools in the village.
The joint theme for this year's event, which takes place on the same day as the Royal Wedding, will be the 100-year anniversary of the end of the First World War and the Royal Wedding.
