THE BBC’s Look North presenting team are bringing their TV sofa to York as part of a huge fundraising challenge.

Harry Gration, Amy Garcia and Paul Hudson will transport a specially adapted BBC Look North sofa 100 miles around Yorkshire, visiting 50 places en route, in just eight days.

They will be meeting viewers and raising funds for Sport Relief.

It is part of the celebrations to mark Look North’s 50th anniversary.

The presenters’ journey will take them to some of the county’s big cities including York, Leeds, Sheffield and Bradford.

Their route will also include the North Yorkshire scenic coastline, the exciting wilderness of the Peak District and Yorkshire landmarks like Nostell Priory, Haworth Main Street and Stanage Edge.

The trio of presenters will push, pull and drag the sofa, which has been specially adapted by students at Leeds City College. They will travel along highways and country lanes, climbing hills and descending into valleys, stopping off in cities, towns and villages along the route. Viewers are welcome along the route to cheer the Look North team on.

The team will set off on March 15 in Birstall near Batley and will finish on March 22 in the market town of Otley.

They will make their way from Tadcaster to York on March 16.
