YORK Central developers are running a series of workshops about plans for the site, and are inviting people to take part.

The York Central Partnership (YCP) is putting on the three workshops as part of the second stage of its public engagement on the masterplan for the old railway site.

The first session, on Tuesday, February 20, will focus on "movement" and how the new neighbourhood can become an integrated and connected part of the city - through walking links, cycling, public transport, and vehicle movements.

The following day there will be another workshop, on open space and the environment. That will give people to talk about landscape and "green infrastructure" and proposals for a new park, squares and local spaces.

The final session, on design, heritage and uses will take place on Wednesday, February 28, looking at how the design can embrace the site's railway heritage, and what the developers have in mind in terms of uses, activities and places on York Central.

All three workshops will take place from 5pm until 7.30pm at the Hudson Board room at City of York Council's West Offices on Station Rise.

Numbers are limited, so places can be reserved by emailing ycevents@aberfield.com. Organisers say they reserve the right to allocate specific numbers to groups to make sure a good cross-section of groups can attend.

They also say there will more opportunities to get involved in the project including a formal consultation which is launching for six weeks in mid-March, and a pop-up event in St Helen's Square on Friday from 10am until 3pm.
