A PICKERING great-great-grandmother has died aged 105.
Elsie Cosens passed away peacefully at 5 Whitby Road Residential Home in Pickering on January 25. She celebrated her 105th birthday on January 9.
Until 18 months ago she had lived independently in her bungalow in Pickering. Mrs Cosens originally came from Sussex and lived in Handcross for much of her life, but moved to Pickering in 2000 with her husband Ted, who died in 2004.
She was a member of the WI and the Pickering Over 60s Tuesday lunch club. She leaves behind three sons, Alan who lives in Sussex, Gerald in Thornton-le-Dale and Ron in Pickering. She also had 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Her sons said she would be greatly missed by family and friends in Yorkshire and Sussex.
