HEAVY snow has been causing driving problems in York and North Yorkshire.
The snow started in York at 11am and the heaviest fell between 2pm and 3pm, before turning to rain.
The worst problems for motorists were on higher routes such as the A170 at Sutton Bank, near Thirsk, the B1257 at Chopgate, near Helmsley, and the A169 Whitby to Pickering road at Blue Bank, which all had snow settling on the road surface at times by mid-afternoon.
Temperatures are now set to climb rapidly in the next couple of days, rising to about 8C in York tomorrow and 12C on Tuesday, and it is likely to remain mild for the rest of the week with south-westerly winds.
