RESIDENTS in Selby have been urged to apply to the council for grants to help keep their homes warm.
Selby District Council, working with City of York Council is offering grants to help insulate homes and reduce heating bills, with loft insulation or cavity wall insulation funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Tackling Fuel Poverty Programme.
Householders earning less than £20,000 a year can apply for 100 per cent funding while 75 per cent grants are available for those earning between £20,000 and £35,000. Landlords can also receive funding.
Cllr Richard Musgrave, of Selby District Council, said: "This support can make a big difference to families and individuals who’re facing big winter fuel bills. We working with others to help people improve the quality of housing stock in the district and reduce their energy bills. It’s through schemes such as this that we can help people to help themselves."
